Is green bruising or a knot normal on my dog's spay incision?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | 2 years and 8 months old | 4.6 lbs

Hello! I wanted to ask about what discoloration on my dogs stomach may mean. My 2 year old dog just got spayed on Wednesday, and nothing drarastically has occurred; but I did notice tonight that the area around her incision is turning a dark green. Like a bruise that's just beginning to form. Is this normal considering her recent spay?! Also she created a knot by her incision with the surgeons because she was so active, and it still hasn't went down.

This sounds normal to me, bruising like colors are common after a surgery, as long as it doesn't look inflamed or infected there is nothing to worry about. The knot will go down eventually as well, it can take 4 to 6 weeks.
