Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Female | spayed | 8 years and 11 months old
Hi; My 8 year old rescue Shih Tzu has had a cough for a year, when I got her. It's like she's trying to cough up a fur ball, and she does have allergies that we're treating so she doesn't chew on her feet. My Vet has done chest xray, bloodwork, tracheoscopy, and we've tried Prednisone/Tetracycline, Furosemide and she's presently on Vanectyl. She does have a slightly enlarged heart, but her lungs are clear with no crackles. They have suggested and endoscopy with lung wash, but it's $3000.

Given the fact that her large is slightly enlarged, I thing a cardiologist specialist ultrasound test would make more sense at this point (and will be cheaper as well) as I am not convinced the problem doesn't come from the heart yet.
