My dog has orange, squishy poop with rice. Could it be worms?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Catahoula Leopard Dog | Male | neutered | 4 years and 8 months old | 85 lbs

My dog had very soft stool for 2/3 days. He didn't go yesterday and then today I had to force him to go. It was orange in color and squishy. There was a little normal color stool but mostly the orange. There was also rice in it that id been feeding him. He's acting totally normal (energetic, same appetite, same thirst) he is a large dog. 90lbs.

The rice should not have come out whole and undigested. What you were most likely seeing is tapeworm segments, which look very much like rice. If you can, bring a stool sample to the vet so they can analyze it. If it is tapeworm, you will be given a dewormer to use.
