Why does my Great Dane panic and get a high fever on shiny floors?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Great Dane | Female | spayed | 6 years and 1 month old | 145 lbs

My 6 year old Great Dane female (spayed and gastrpoexied in 2012) is primarily an in hose dog but does run dashes around our 1/3acre property almost daily. Recently she had a severe panic attack upon trying to cross a shiny tile floor. The outcome wa very dramatic with temp to107, respiration 40. Emergency vet saw and stayed with her for an hour before she was carried by litter to car. At home she gradually improved but has had some Mimi replays. Tonight she had a moderately severe response

A temp of that high is extremely concerning. I think it would be prudent to have her worked up further as this could be a congenital health condition. My instinct would be to focus on her cardiac output by running an ECG and completing chest radiographs. This is certainly abnormal behavior. I am happy to consult where we can share more detailed info.
