My puppy has a blue ring around his eyes. Should I be worried?

HI, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If you are referring to the blue line around the brown iris color and the white of his eye, it may be a deposit of cholesterol or normal for a puppy Rocky's age. If he isn't squinting or rubbing his eyes then have your Vet take a closer look at his next puppy visit. Cholesterol deposits usually are not harmful. I hope this helps!

    If the blue ring you are seeing is on or near the margin between your dog's iris (the colored part of the eye) and the sclera (white part) and forms a large ring, it may be a deposit of cholesterol. It does not damage the eye nor does it interfere with vision. For a definitive diagnosis, schedule an exam with a veterinary ophthalmologist.
