My 19lb dog ate a human prenatal vitamin with DHA. Is she okay?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Boston Terrier | Female | spayed | 3 years and 3 months old | 19 lbs

My 19lb dog ate one "NAtureMade" brand multi prenatal vitamin + DHA. Is she going to be okay?? She didn't eat the coating, just liquid inside. She also gets a little salmon oil on her meals. Ingredients of pill in pic.

Since she only ate 1 pill, I would not be worried about toxicity. The doses in the vitamins for each of the components should not be harmful. You may see some GI signs such as poor appetite, vomiting or diarrhea, but should resolve. If symptoms continue, I would recommend taking her to your veterinarian.

Hello! I'm sorry to hear that EV has given you a scare. It does not appear that there is anything in this vitamin that will be harmful to EV, but do keep an eye on her for signs of stomach upset as this is possible with any novel ingested items (whether food, vitamin, or otherwise). If she starts exhibiting any lethargy, vomiting, or diarrhea, give your vet a call, but I highly doubt that anything in this vitamin will harm her at all. Most toxicities for vitamins and minerals happen in large doses over a chronic period of time, or by eating a whole bottle. I think she'll be just fine :) Good luck, and I hope EV stays out of your vitamins from now on!
