Coconut oil for puppy dry skin: How long? What other treatments work?

Question

My vet recommended applying coconut oil on my puppies itchy and dry skin, how long does it take usually for symptoms to go away? (Assuming I apply it fairly regularly) also know of any other dry skin treatments/oils that you’ve seen work well? Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | 3 months and 14 days old | 3 lbs

The coconut oil should help in a week or two. I would add a fatty acid supplement to their diet so the skin and hair coat will have additional nutrition to heal.
