Raw potatoes can be toxic in certain amounts, especially the eyes, green parts under the eyes, the vines and leaves. Mostly it can cause Gi upset with symptoms like vomiting and poor appetite. Cooked potatoes are better as much of the toxin is destroyed in the cooking process. If the potato is green, though, it may still contain a lot of the toxin, even after cooking. If Zeus likes mashed potatoes, I would just make sure to cook them first and that they aren't green.
