My cat has a growing bump near her nose. Do I need a second opinion?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 13 lbs

We adopted her 3 months ago. The first time we took her to our vet she gave her Convenia and prednisolone for her rodent ulcer around her mouth and other issues, and recommended flea treatment. About a month ago she developed this "bump" near her nose. We brought her to the vet, who did a stained cytology but didn't find anything. She suggested surgery to remove it but we didn't want especially she didn't know what that thing was. It's been growing slowly. We need second opinion. Please help.

There really is no way to know what the mass is without a surgical biopsy. I understand the hesitation going forward with surgery, but if it's growing you need to determine what it is, and biopsy is the best option to do so. This mass May just be inflammation or eosinophilia granuloma or it could be a cancerous mass. There are even cases of fungal disease causing nasal masses. If it is growing I would strongly recommend addressing it as soon as possible as surgery may become more difficult as it gets larger. Best of luck to Pol and I hope it is something easily treatable.
