My dog is losing hair on his inner leg with brown spots. What is it?

It seems that my dog is losing hair on his inner leg and there are brownish spots on them too. What could this mean? Pet's info: Dog | Bichon Frise | Male | neutered | 36 lbs

Although I can't say for sure what the problem is with Gizmo without examining him first and running a few skin tests, I can provide a few possibilities. Loosing fur can have many causes: a mite infection, bacterial or fungal infection or it could signal a endocrine disorder such as hypothyroidism or cushing's disease. The brown spots may signal a fungal or yeast infection. You veterinarian will run a few skin tests to determine the cause and provide the appropriate treatment based on diagnosis.
