What's causing my dog's eye irritation, hair loss, and discharge?

I am sorry it is very difficult to tell by the picture what is going on. IT is possible trauma or an allergy caused irritation to the eye. With scratching or rubbing this could cause the hair loss and discharge. However since it is so close to the eye I Would recommend consulting a vet to make sure the lesion is going to resolve.
