If this just appears to be a crusted area and is not raised, it is possible this was an insect bite that got irritated or a small scratch/wound. If the lesion is raised (I can't really tell from the appearance) then we sometimes get warty skin growths that can get traumatized and bleed/crust over. I would wash the area with a mild soap or Hibiclens (available at most drug stores) and apply a topical antibiotic like Polysporin or Neosporin a few times day. If she is scratching/rubbing at the area she may need an e-collar for a few days to stop self-trauma. If the lesions isn't improving after several days of this or it starts to get larger/other spots appear then these would be reasons to seek veterinary care.

    It looks slightly infected, maybe there is a foreign body stuck under the skin, you should take Stella to the vet in order to get it checked and treated, they will analyse it and treat it according to the results.

This looks like a little pustule that has formed a crust. It can be from an infection with bacteria, an allergy, an insect bite, a small wound. If there is only one lesion I would wash it with a mild soap and apply an antibiotic ointment a few times a day. According to the picture this looks like a wart that Lady scratched and now has a scab on it. Since she is bothering with it and seems uncomfortable I would take her to see your veterinarian. They can make sure it is nothing else like a scratch that got infected or a different type of growth that go infected and scabbed over. They also will be able to give her a topical ointment to place on the area to help with any type of infection. If this is something that continues to bother her or scab over I would recommend removing it so it does not continually get infected and bother her. If she is scratching at it I would put an e-collar on her so she does not make it worse. As dogs age it is very common for them to get more warts like these, some may bother them while others will not.

Thanks for sending in the pictures of Oliver. It is a little difficult for me to make out the pictures, but it appears like he has a small skin growth on his head that has scabbed over. I would gently clean the scab and dried blood away with a warm wash cloth. If there is a flesh colored growth it may be a wart like mass. They are common in many dogs as they age. If he has been scratching at his head, then it could be self trauma secondary to his allergies. If it bothers him or does not resolve, then have your veterinarian evaluate him.

Hi and thank you for your question on Boop by Petco! From the pictures it appears like a scab or a cyst that ruptured (more common in older dogs than younger dogs). You can clean it daily with 3% hydrogen peroxide and if it does not appear to be healing up in a few days you may need to take her into her veterinarian to take a closer look. Best to you!

My yorkie developed an acne-like bump on her back shortly after getting spayed a year ago. It kept getting smaller but i just noticed this scab in its place. Please advise.
It's quite possible that the little bump on Booboo's back is a cyst. While most cysts are benign (especially ones in young dogs), their size can fluctuate as they fill with fluid, rupture, then refill. When cysts rupture, they can cause little crusts or scabs on the surface of the skin. These lesions can become infected if a dog licks or scratches at the area, but most of the time, they don't cause any problems. I don't see evidence of infection in the picture. For now, I think it's reasonable to keep an eye on the area for changes. If you want to clean it with an antiseptic to err on the side of caution, Hibiclens and betadine are both good over the counter options, but be sure to rinse well afterwards. Unless this lesion gets larger, has more discharge, or irritates Booboo, I don't think you need to take a trip to the vet for this lesion alone. That said, be sure to mention it to your vet the next time Booboo is due for an exam so that they can check it out. I hope that everything go

Hi. My dog Marley has had a bump on her head behind her left eye for about a week and the fur has fallen off of it and it’s kinda scabbing. It looks like there may be a second one. I’m just wondering what this could be. Thanks
Poor girl! It looks like a little local infection or a cyst that she has rubbed all the hair off of. Since you feel like there is a second one now developing, I would have your vet take a look at it before more come up. Your vet can aspirate that bump if needed to make sure it isn't cancerous. They will also be able to prescribe some antibiotics if needed. I hope this helps!

Hi there. Thank you for using Boop by Petco. It is definitely a scab but from what, I don't know. This could be from trauma, an insect bite (like a tick) or the start of a skin infection. Unfortunately there is no way to tell for sure. I wouldn't be overly worried at this stage. Personally, if Buffy were my dog, I would just leave it alone and monitor it. But, if you want to do something at home, you can apply a thin layer of an antibiotic ointment over it twice a day. If it doesn't heal or it looks worse at any stage then get him to your vet for an exam. Hope this helps. Best wishes!

Hello and thank you for your post! It is difficult to tell what these bumps are exactly, but what you are describing sounds like what we call a hemangioma. These bumps are typically benign if that is what these are. Dogs that are in the Sun a lot are more predisposed to developing hemangiomas. However, that being said, hemangiomas Can potentially turn into a malignant cancer. Hemangiomas can turn into what we call hemangiosarcomas of the skin. To prevent these from turning to malignant masses, you can have these easily removed or frozen off at your vet's clinic. Another possibility is an insect bite causing a blood blister. Hemangiomas typically will occur in the areas that you're describing but can show up anywhere. I would schedule an appointment with a vet if you are concerned and more are showing up to have them removed and to be sure of the suspected diagnosis. I would not say this is urgent but the sooner you address it the better. I hope this helps guide you in the right directi

hi i just noticed a large round bump on my dog which has a scab on top and i’m not sure wether to be concerned or not?
I am sorry to hear about your concern for Kato! This area could be the result of a variety of things, such as an insect bite, a wound that has becomes infected, an ingrown hair/area of folliculitis, and more. If Kato is acting normally otherwise, you can try cleaning the area with a mild soap and applying a topical antibiotic like neosporin to the area. If it is enlarging in size, if it starts to have a green or yellow discharge, if it isn't getting smaller over a few days, or if Kato starts having lethargy, decreased appetite, pain, or other lesions arise then a trip to the vet is recommended.

Hi my dog had a small scratch on his head about a few months ago. I cleaned it for a few weeks. It cleared up. He know has a 2 small bumps on his head. It doesnt hurt him when i touch it. A vet told me it looks like scar tissue maybe some fluid in it
I think your veterinarian, who was able to see and palpate the lesion, is right in determining that this may be scar tissue. As long as it is not painful, the skin does not turn red and it is not hot, there is nothing to worry about. Over time this will get less and less noticeable.
