Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | spayed | 13 years and 10 months old | 7.5 lbs
My 14yrs old chihuahua had a fall and after that, she tilted her head slightly to the side that took the impact of the fall, other than that, she showed no other signs of serious injuries. Worrying for her since it was quite a fall, I rushed her to the vet. The vet said she was having some concussion and pain, thus she was given a shot of Buprenorphine. She had since stopped tilting her head, but she's dripping saliva. Is it normal that after the injection, she drooled for several hours?

Yes, that is a fairly frequent side effect after buprenorphine injection. The effect of buprenorphine lasts between 6 and 8 hours, so the hypersalivation should gradually wear off. I hope Mifi is pain free and back to her usual self. Please get in touch if you have any further questions.
