How long can my pet eat the same food flavor? Do I need to transition?

This question is for David. Is being on one flavor for three months at time a good time frame? Thanks! Also how gradual would you transition between flavors? Pet's info: Dog | Cavalier King Charles Spaniel | Female | spayed | 5 years and 2 months old | 17 lbs

In most cases when you only change the flavor but not the brand, gradual transition is rarely necessary, but if there is a negative reaction to the change then it's a good idea to just stop feeding the new flavor. as long as the change of flavor does not cause any problem, 3 months at a time is a good time frame.
