Why does my dog have a vulva bump and breast redness after Benadryl?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 8 years and 7 months old | 4 lbs

Yesterday I around 9 pm I have her some abenadryo for her allergies. Then around midnight she had that bump like thing in front of her vulva. It seems to be going down now but I'm not sure. Now this morning at almost 10 am I wake her up to check & she has redness around one of her breast. There's no discharge or lumps. What could this be?

Thank you for providing pictures of the affected area. From what I can observe it does not look infected at this stage. i would continue to monitor at home for the time being. Signs of infection would include; Pain Redness- which is growing or spreading Discharge Foul odor Swelling Changes in appetite Vomiting or dirrhoea In the meantime you can apply a cool compress to the bumps forever few hours for the first 24, then switch to a warm compress. You can provide another dose of benadryl in case this is an insect bite issue. Best of luck and please post any further questions you have on the forum. We are here to help you! Hours
