Petplan dog insurance: Is my annual deductible per condition?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | unneutered | 7 years and 2 months old | 18 lbs

If my dog has Petplan insurance with $15k coverage, but the annual deductible is $450, does this mean that regular vet visits and administered medications won't be covered until it exceeds the $450 amount I've paid? Money is tight but I've been trying to get my dog to the vet to check on his paw. For his coverage it states "The maximum $ amount reimbursed. It covers treatments by a vet for illness/injury, including surgery, prescription medication, etc." We also have 70% reimbursement.

This is not exactly how it works, there is an excess amount that needs to be paid for each and every medical condition that your fog has, once this amount is passed everything else is covered. but the excess amount is NOT the same as your annual payment, it is different from plan to plan it usually varies between 75$-200$. this should be written on your policy (look for "excess"), if you can't find it give a call to petplan and they will let you know what the amount is.
