Is my 10-year-old Cavalier too old for a therapy dog program?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Cavalier King Charles Spaniel | Female | spayed | 10 years and 4 months old | 22 lbs

I'm thinking of enrolling my cavalier king charles in a therapy dog program. She's 10 yrs old and very docile. Is she too old?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Cookie is adorable! Age isn't a disease nor do I see it as a reason not to enroll her in the therapy dog program. Cavaliers are such great dogs and are super sweet! Just be sure she is up to date on vaccines and has had a recent negative fecal. But the program will go over all the requirements with you! I hope this helps and good luck!
