My dog won't eat his hypoallergenic food. Are there other options?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Bulldog | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 3 months old | 51 lbs

Vet had us put Bronx on Purina HA food due to suspected foood allergy. Problem: Bronx won't eat it. He typically attacks his food, but he won't touch this stuff. I have to hand feed it. Any ideas? Alternatives? Our vet has been closed for holiday weekend.

If Bronx has a food allergy it is best to stay with a hypoallergenic prescription food. However there are many different brands and options if Bronx will not eat the HA. Royal Canine makes a line of multiple different flavors and so does Hills. I would recommend contacting your vet when they are open and request a prescription for a different type of hypoallergenic diet.. hope that helps
