Hello, my 10 year old dachshund has been shivering in pain and has an arched back when walking. She is in heat. We also noticed her dragging her bum on the floor a few days ago and suspect she has worms. Her tummy is also swollen. She has never had puppies before. Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund | Female | unspayed | 22 lbs

Two main things i would be suspecting, the first being a uterine infection which is an emergency situation, if this will be diagnosed she will need to have an emergency surgery done in the next 48 hours. the other possibility is IVDD (vertebral disk disease) which will require intensive medical treatment for pain as well as cage rest. you must take her to the vet ASAP.
