Sometimes ferrets will loose hair due to trauma or chewing in their tail. I would make sure that Freya does not have any skin mites or fleas which might cause her to be itchy. I would recommend taking her to the vet for a good physical exam. The vet can do a skin scrape to look for mites. If the scrape is negative allergies and endocrine disease like adrenal disease can also cause hair loss. Hope that helps. thanks for using pet coach

It is possible she could have adrenal disease, skin mites or allergies. I would recommend taking her to a veterinarian for a good exam and possible blood work. This will determine the cause of the hair loss. Hope that helps!!

Hair loss (alopecia) is never normal. There are several possible causes of alopecia. Typically a vet will need to do some testing in order to determine the underlying cause of the problem. Some of the most common causes include: adrenal disease, bacterial or parasitic infections, allergic reactions, nutritional deficiency and autoimmune disease. I suggest you have Bonnie to your vet for an exam.
