My three-legged cat's stump cracks. Is this normal or concerning?

I have a cat that was born with no back foot and I noticed lately how every time it moves around I hear a crack like cracking your knuckles maybe bone going in and out of place does not seem to be in any pain is this something I should be concerned about

I would recommend a veterinary evaluation. Cats often do fine with only 3 legs but there may be another abnormality that could cause pain or problems later on. In some cases it may be recommended to amputate the stump if there are other issues or trauma to leg. Good luck and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

    If your cat puts weight on the leg there may be changes to the underlying bones, and it is possible that pressure sores will develop. Cats can hide pain well and I would recommend making an appointment with your veterinarian to make sure that everything seems okay. They may recommend taking an x-ray of the leg if there are concerns.
