My dog has dry eye. Does it affect one eye, or can it affect both?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Cavalier King Charles Spaniel | Female | spayed | 5 years and 2 months old | 17 lbs

Does dry eye effect one or can it effect both eyes? I have an appointment with my vet on September 13th to test for dry eye. Both her eyes are bloodshot for the second time this year. She's on drops for them right now for the next week.

I'm sorry to hear that Chloe is having problems with her eyes. Dry eye can affect just one eye, but most commonly affects both eyes because it is most commonly due to an autoimmune issue. I have included a link below with more information on dry eye. https://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?P=A&S=0&C=0&A=1326 Please let me know if that was helpful. Thanks for using PetCoach.
