My big dog injured my small dog. Is he aggressive or just reacting?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Male | unneutered

Duke lives in a home with another pitbull who's 3 years old and he gets along great with. We also have a pomeranian who is 5 years old and will growl and bark when duke comes near him yesterday the pomeranian barked at duke and ran. Towards duke and duke jumped up onto him and grabbed him by the back fur and wouldn't let go. Duke did not bite him leave any marks but because the other dog is so small his leg got injured. My question is does duke seem aggressive and should I be worried

I'm so sorry you are having this problem. It does not sound like Duke is being aggressive (and as you noted he gets along great with your other Pit). The problem is that it sounds like your Pomeranian finally frustrated Duke enough with his behavior of growling and barking that Duke finally had enough. As you said, the problem is that your Pomeranian is so small. So, although I would not be worried that Duke is aggressive, I would be worried that your Pomeranian could easily get himself hurt again. Unfortunately, I think I would keep your Pomeranian away from Duke. It is too easy for a dog that small to get hurt by 2 larger dogs. I hope that helps. Good luck!
