My dog is heaving. Is it due to dental surgery or being overweight?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

I have a rescue dachshund who had dental surgery last year due to severely rotted and decayed teeth. I was told it did break down her nasal cavity somehow (I live overseas so langauage barriers). Now she is what seems to be heaving regularly. Is it because of how bad her teeth are/were? She is also on the heavy side, I don't know if this could play a role as well.

I don't think either things are likely to be related to this symptom, i would believe it is more likely to be an infection, a problem with her windpipe or a lung disease. it could also be heart related. i would recommend taking her to the vet for a checkup, she might need to have an xray done.
