Depending on the extent of the bleeding, it may or may not be significant. Small amounts of bleeding or red tinged discharge are to be expected for short periods of time following a surgical procedure. A steady flow or blood or thick discharge should be considered concerning. If the latter is occurring, I would seek out an emergency 24 hour veterinarian to assess the area. If this is not possible. you can apply a pressure bandage to the affected area to stem the flow of blood. You can do this with regular bandage material from a pharmacy and some surgical tape. Hope this answers your question.

If you cant apply a bandage on the area to maintain adequate pressure that will prevent the bleeding to continue then you must take him back to the vet. slight bleeding up to 2-3 days post surgery is not uncommon though, especially if the blood seems to be slightly watery in color.
