My dog's stitches are bleeding after surgery, what should I do right now?

Pet's info: Dog | Doberman Pinscher | Female | spayed | 3 years and 4 months old | 70 lbs

My Doberman just had a incision in her thigh to remove a mass and she's bleeding through her stitches. No Vets are open right now so what should I do..?

Depending on the extent of the bleeding, it may or may not be significant. Small amounts of bleeding or red tinged discharge are to be expected for short periods of time following a surgical procedure. A steady flow or blood or thick discharge should be considered concerning. If the latter is occurring, I would seek out an emergency 24 hour veterinarian to assess the area. If this is not possible. you can apply a pressure bandage to the affected area to stem the flow of blood. You can do this with regular bandage material from a pharmacy and some surgical tape.
