Why is my cat licking his infected leg and has scabs on his fur?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 14 lbs

My cat has an awful infection down his leg. He also has other scabs throughout his fur but not to this extent. He's licking it constantly so I'm assuming it's irritating/itchy. He is fed raw meat and grain free cat food but diet hasn't changed recently and he's never had skin infections previously.

This looks very inflamed indeed, probably infected as well. i would actually suspect a condition called Eosinophylic Granuloma that is quite common in cats and can look like this, if this is the case Boston will need steroid treatment for a few weeks and probably a course of antibiotic as well. i strongly advise that you take him to the vet ASAP in order to get treatment.
