My dog is vomiting bile and has mucus stools. Should I call the vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | 9 years and 5 months old

My lab cross has mucus stools and is vomiting bile since 3.30am Thursday on and off. He has seemed fine in him self up until today, as he is off his food. He will take little sips of water tho. Do I need to take him to the vets?

It sounds as Odie is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.
