It appears that your dog could have hives if this happened quite suddenly. This is often an allergic reaction to something, such as an insect bite. Most often we need to treat these with a combination of Diphenhydramine (benadryl) and steroids. We often give an injectable form initially and then send an owner home with an oral version as well. If your dog has any swelling of his face or trouble breathing he should go to the vet immediately for emergency treatment. If it is only these lesions that are present I would call your vet to make an appointment as ask if they feel it is ok to give him oral benadryl at home (they know your pet's history and can advise better than we whether it is appropriate for him).

These bumps definitely do look like hives. Allergic reactions in dogs can also be from insect and spider bites as well. In fact, food rarely causes this type of allergic reaction in dogs and bites and stings are more common. Or even exposure to certain outdoor things can trigger hives. If these do not resolve, you do need to see a veterinarian for some meds. Antihistamines or even steroids may be necessary to get hives to resolve. And if they continue, allergy testing may be needed.

This is probably an allergic reaction due to an insect bite or a plant outside. those reactions tend to resolve within 48 hours without treatment. if the swelling becomes too large or if Bruiser is lethargic, take him to the vet in order to get an antihistamine injection.

Poor guy. These are hives, which indicates taht Angus is having an acute allergic reaction to something. I would recommend contacting your vet to get him treated with a steroid _/- anti-histamine shot to stop the reaction. You can also discuss some possible triggers for this reaction which can include: a new food, something in the environment, etc to hopefully avoid this type of reaction in the future. I hope that Angus recovers well. Best wishes and take care.
