Why is my dog breathing fast and heavily after eating soup?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 7 years and 6 months old | 33 lbs

After my dog sophie eated soup, she started to breathing fast and heavily like five consecutive times. Please tell why this Happened and what can I do?

Hi and thanks for your question! If the soup accidentally went into his nose and he got a little soup down his lungs, this could cause the signs you mentioned, however if the breathing difficulty happened hours later, then I'd be concerned the soup had an ingredient that might be potentially toxic or contained a high amount of sodium that could cause respiratory signs. If it has resolved and is not happening any longer, then I wouldn't too much but if it is continuing, I would take him to your local vet.
