My dog has yellow, mucus-y diarrhea and putrid gas. Is it serious?

I have a male GSD that weighs about 90 pounds. He's been having very bad diarrhea today and it's turned yellow, almost mucus-y, and his gas smells putrid. I've fed him boiled rice and chicken which usually helps him when he had the initial, more standard looking diarrhea this morning. I'm very worried about him and was wondering if this was something to be concerned about.

Poor Sawyer! If he starts vomiting, acting lethargic, or not eating I would take him to your vet right away. Otherwise I'd continue the bland diet and if the diarrhea is not getting better he may still need to see your vet for medication to help resolve the diarrhea. They may want to check a stool sample for parasites as well.
