My cat sleeps a lot and has hind leg pain. Should I see a vet?

My cat has been sleeping a lot recently. More than usual. He also seems to have pain in his hind legs when he tries to sit down. I'm not 100% sure if his eating & litter box habits are normal since I am not home a lot since school started. Should I take him to the vet? Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 15 lbs

I'm sorry to hear that Jinx seems painful and has been sleeping more than normal. It is possible that all of his signs are related to arthritis, but sleeping more could be due to underlying health conditions, such as diabetes, kidney disease, liver disease, cancer, among others. To answer your question, yes, you should take Jinx to the vet for further evaluation. He will certainly need a physical exam and may also need some lab testing to assess his internal organ function.
