Could my Boxer's weight loss be EPI, even with no other symptoms?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Boxer | Male | neutered

I was told our boxer has pancreatitis and that causes him to not put weight on. He has no symptoms to otherwise suggest that he would. Loves food, active, regular bowel movements and is 18 months old. The gave us an enzyme powder and told us to feed him an oats and herb mixture with fresh kangaroo meat but hasnt helped him. Could it be something else??

The history of poor weight gain without any vomiting or pain may be pancreatic insufficiency rather than inflammatory pancreatitis, a TLI blood test can be used to confirm. If positive, enzyme powders can be fed with a hydrolyzed diet such as royal canin hypoallergenic, once weight is restored most can be maintained on diet alone or a low dose of enzymes
