Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 7 months old | 65 lbs

I have a 1 year old labradoodle and she's had allergy testing is on special food but continues to have folliculitis. Are there any products I can use that are natural or over the counter to treat the problem?

The best thing you can do is use a medicated shampoo FREQUENTLY. You need one with Benzoyl Peroxide (2.5-3%) like this one: https://www.chewy.com/vetoquinol-vet-solutions-bpo-3/dp/109531 You need to lather it up, leave it sit on her coat for about 10 minutes and then rinse thoroughly. The contact time is EXTREMELY important so the medication can have time to work!!! The benzoyl peroxide keeps the follicles flushed out. I would use it at least 2-3 times a week. It will not dry out her skin but if you want to follow up with a creme rinse I would use this one: https://www.chewy.com/hylyt-hypoallergenic-creme-rinse/dp/119223 Hope this helps. Best wishes!
