Why does my cat have bleeding wart-like bumps on her neck?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Manx | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 4 months old | 4 lbs

Our cat has what I was calling skin tags, on her neck but they feel more like a wart. She's got those about 3 times and each time she claws it off until she has her neck raw and bleeding. We put a cone on her neck and it's getting better but I really would like to know what is causing it. Please help

These bumps can be benign or malignant growths, cysts, an allergic reaction, infection, etc. I think it would be best to take her to your veterinarian for an exam. They will most likely recommend taking a sample of them to get a diagnosis. If you can get a good picture of them you could also post another question on the forum and we might be able to give you a more specific recommendation. Thanks!
