Why do my puppy's paws look swollen after grooming? Is it just me?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 6 months and 29 days old | 7.2 lbs

Hi my puppy was groomed for the first time yesterday. Now to me her paws look swollen. It could just be me but I just want a second opinion. She's acting completely normal. I feel like maybe because the fur that was once there is gone I think they look swollen and am paranoid. & They've looked this way since she's been groomed so maybe it's just me?

Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! After looking at the pictures, I don't believe her paws look swollen. One key thing you will see with swollen paws is the spreading apart of the toes from the swelling. I don't see that here with her. I think like you said the paws just look different now since she was groomed. If you can touch the toes together with little effort, no swelling is present in the paws. Good luck with Snowball.
