Is mineral oil safe for dog constipation, especially if she drinks it?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 50 lbs

I'm trying to get her used to constant food, but she's made herself bloated and constipated. I was told that she could have a low dose of GasX gor the gas but I was wondering if she could have meneral oil to help the constipation. The last guy said she could inhale it but last timeout had to use it I let her sniff it she lapped it up like maple syrup. Is it a problem if she drinks whole? Or is there still the danger of her choking on it?

The mineral oil is ok if she will eat (as long as you are not forcing it down) but just so you know, the oil will literally just drip out her butt and you will have a terrible mess to clean up. I know from first hand experience. Mineral oil is not absorbed by their system so it will pass through literally unchanged. I personally would not use it. You are better off feeding the canned pumpkin to help push out any stools. Hope this helps. Best wishes!
