Bleeding spots on my dog's mouth: Is it acne? What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labradoodle | Female | spayed | 1 year and 10 months old | 27 lbs

Hello, my 2 year old lab has, what looks like, 2 little white scars on her mouth and a larger red one. On further inspection they seem to be spots of some kind. The larger one bled earlier today. She hasn't lost her appetite or is disinterested in anything obvious. Not sure what it can be. Googled it at it could be Dog Acne?

Hello, & thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. It could be a bit of acne going on, but it could also be a staph infection from Alice putting her nose wherever dogs go. You could put a spot of triple antibiotic or Neosporin on the areas. If she licks it off, no harm. Do this at leas twice a day for a few days. If it does not seem to be healing, seems to be spreading, or continues to bleed, please have you veterinarian take a look. Take care.
