Poor guy! That looks painful!! All the dead/affected tissue needs to be removed and then he needs his feet soaked in a foot bath containing a commercial solution of either copper sulfate or zinc sulfate. In your sherp's case, the foot is likely to bleed a lot during trimming and is likely going to be painful. I would suggest having a veterinarian help you with the first trim and teach you. Also, they can help come up with a plan for flock management to try and keep it from coming back.
