Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sorry to hear about Yeti. This area resembles a localized skin infection most likely caused by a bacteria that normally lives on his skin. It is quite red around the area so if you notice that these areas are spreading, getting worse and not improving, you should have your veterinarian evaluate Yeti. They can get a thorough history and then examine Yeti and the affected areas. Skin problems have many causes including bacterial infections, allergies, flea/tick/insect bites/stings, trauma, fungal infections, problems with mites, or even internal problems that present with skin involvement. Your vet can advise whether diagnostics are needed (skin tests, blood tests, etc) or if a treatment plan is indicated based on what they observe. Good luck with Yeti.
