My dogs had giardia. Should I retest if no runny poop after treatment?

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | unneutered | 4 months and 8 days old | 28 lbs

got a new german shepherd pup and he had giardia and my other 2 german shepherds got giardia. Treated it with panacur and metronidazole at the same time for 5 days. Did a stool sample re check on 1 dog after 7 days of treatment came back negative asked my vet if we should check the other 2 dogs stools she said no if no runny poop even if they still have giardia she said they only treat giardia if there is runny poop is this correct thanks

Some dogs will shed giardia with no clinical signs, so it may not be worth retesting the other ones if they are normal. If any of them start having loose stool again though it may be worth testing them as they may be reinfecting each other.
