We have a 9 month old Lab puppy who displays a intermittent limp on his left foreleg, mostly he's ok but the limp is more pronounced after he rises from resting/sleeping.

I would recommend restricted activity for two weeks. This includes no running, jumping, playing and sleeping in a crate. If he still limping he. Reds to go to a veterinarian for an exam and possible x-ray. Young dogs can have soft tissue injuries, broken bones and ligament issues. A lot of time restricted activity is all they need. Most dogs will over use the leg not allowing it to heal. However if you ever feel like its getting worse I would recommend taking him to a veterinarian sooner. Hope that helps.

I would definitely have Runo examined by your veterinarian. There are a number of joint diseases that puppies can get as they are growing that should be treated as soon as possible. Some orthopedic diseases that we see in puppies just need pain medication, but some need more intensive treatment, so it is best to figure out what is going on as soon as possible. Your vet will also likely need to take x-rays to help them figure out what is going on with Runo in order to treat it properly. Good luck! I hope that was helpful and that Runo feels better soon. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
