My senior dog has a ruptured, swollen teat. Cancer or abscess?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 12 years and 4 months old | 30 lbs

My male dog 13yrs old had 1 of its teat along wit the area swollen which was hard to touch and hot we consulted our vet wit pic he said it was a cancer and prescribed homeopathy medicine later the Swollen part ruptured with blood mix pus coming out of it now the swelling is less and he is able to sit but the wound is big he s strong going fr walks,eating with no weight loss. Can it be cancer or abscess? Vet are asking to euthanize such a strong dog. Pls help me

It could be either. A biopsy of the area as well as a culture and sensitivity panel should be done. This may determine if Daffi has a cancerous mass or severe infection. If it is cancer, surgery may be an option to resect the mass. Surgical debridement can be done of it is infection to remove dead or dying tissue. Have an honest discussion with your veterinarian and family regarding Daffi's quality of life and prognosis (once you get a diagnosis).
