My dog has bloody, runny stool. Is it worms or should I go to the vet?

My dog is about 5 years old. When we first got him he had worms so we treated him with a Dewormer. We haven't seen any more worms but now his stool is a little runny and very bloody with bright bright dark red blood. Should we try another dose of the D w but now his stool is a little runny and very bloody with a bright bright dark red blood. Should we try another dose of the D wormer and then if that doesn't clear up the problem then take him to a vet?

The dewormer is not likely to help at this point. Since he is so small and it is bloody diarrhea, it is safest to get him examined tonight. Small dogs can get dehydrated very quickly and become weak it the bloody diarrhea is severe and constant. This can be a sign of a bacterial or viral infection or stress related or food related.
