Is it safe to use aerosol spray near my bird in a small apartment?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Male | unneutered | 6 months and 26 days old

I have read that aerosol is bad for birds. My doctor has told me to use rogaine aerosol. I live in a small apartment and am worried about my bird's safety with this product. Is it okay to use it in the bathroom with the door close or to step outside my unit into the hall to dispense it and then bring it back inside? thank you

Aerosol is bad for birds, but only if it's used in close-quarters. If you are in a separate room when using the product and the door stays closed, then there is little to no chance it will be a problem for your bird.
