Dog's neck stepped on, can't move, drooling. Is this an emergency?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 1 month and 12 days old | 1.4 lbs

My cousin accidentally stepped on the neck of my dog. My dog didn't cry but he cannot move. He's still alive but he's drooling heavily and uncontralably. He frequently tries to move and cries when he does. Sometimes he wants to get up but he can't. Will he be ok?

HI, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I am very sorry about Choco! You need to get Chocco to an emergency hospital as soon as possible! At a minimum he is in severe pain. Worst case he could have a broken vertebrae in his neck or an injured spinal chord. It is hard to tell if he will be ok, but there is a better chance if he is taken to a Vet. I wish you the best and I hope Chocco does well!
