Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 7 months and 26 days old | 6 lbs

Hi! My male cat jumped off our 4th floor balcony 4 days ago ..he stayed at the hospital for 3 days and he s finally home. He has brain injuries but the doctors could not tell a prognosis right away. He walks a lot ,sleeps, eats and drinks with a seringe. When he walks he stops with his head in the corners or walls. I don t think he can see very well. We give him medication for brain but..what do you think is there a chance for him?

Poor little Figaro. If possible referral to a vet school neurologist may be the best option to get prognosis for Figaro. However that may involve MRIs and can get expensive quickly. Neurologic injuries can take weeks to months to resolve if there is going to be any healing. Nervous tissue takes a long time to regenerate. Keep in close contact with your veterinarian, consider more advanced care if possible, and make sure that he is receiving adequate nutrition as he recovers. If unable to eat this might require a feeding tube in place surgically. Best of luck and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
