My Mini Poodle needs 3rd vaccine at 6 months? Can I clip her hair?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Miniature Poodle | Female | 2 months and 27 days old | 3.96832 lbs

Hi, could you tell me how many times does miniature poodle need to be vaccinated? She's 3 months old and was vaccinated 2 times. I was told that she needs to be vaccinated third time when she will be 6 months old and I can't cut her hair by clipper until that. Is that true?

Puppies are usually vaccinated three times at 8 weeks, 12 weeks and 16 weeks. However, without knowing what particular vaccines have been given to Mimi it is not possible to advise you when she should be vaccinated again and your veterinarian may have good reason for wanting to vaccinate at 6 months. You should not clip Mimi's hair until her adult coat has grown in. This typically happens around 6 months.

All vaccines differ slightly so if you have been advised to get another at 6 months best to do it. The clipping isnt to do with the vaccination, you should wait until 6 months to allow the adult coat to grow properly.
