My dog coughed up a weird hairball. Is more foreign material stuck?

scooter is mixed york-chihuahua-but not a small dog. she coughed & gaged out this thing that looked like a hair ball,very tightly wraped. 1 1/2" long 1" around. it seemed to be alot of hair-grass-paper-string-, just a mix of weird stuff. it did not have any oder to it, but it was not fresh-the grass was dead.i can't even guess! could there be more? Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 6 years and 11 months old | 25 lbs

Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. It is possible that more 'stuff' could come out, because we don't know how much of this she licked/ate. I would recommend feeding Scooter some boiled rice. If this goes down easily and stays down, and if Scooter is acting normally, then I would monitor for now. If Scooter doesn't want to eat, or if the rice 'falls back out' or she regurgitates this, or if she vomits this up at all, then I would get her to a vet ASAP to have x-rays to make sure there is nothing stuck in the stomach or in the esophagus.
