Dog still has fleas? Can I use a collar with recent spot-on?

If I used a behind the neck flea treatment on my dog three weeks ago can I put a collar on her now if there is still a flea issue

Yes it's fine to put a flea collar on Pippin, but I would recommend another spot on treatment. Flea collars are not typically very effective, and it would be safe to apply another stop on treatment now. I will give you the flea treatment program I recommend, which is very effective. First, I would give her Capstar. It's a one time pill that starts killing fleas within 30 minutes. Then follow up with a spot on treatment, such as Advantage or Revolution.

Yes, it's safe to use the Advantix flea collar, or other flea collars with the spot-on treatment. Keep in mind that controlling fleas on the dog is just half the battle. You will also need to try and kill the fleas in the environment to help keep them from getting reinfested. The flea collars only work as long as they are on the pet. You can use Advantage now to help get rid of the excessive flea load. If that still doesn't do great job, then you can safely give Spot a quick flea ridding medication called Capstar, which will kill all the fleas within 24 hrs, but not act as a preventative for the future. Revolution is another great preventative product that can be tried in the future if the Advantage doesn't work well enough. I hope you are able to get rid of these pesky pests soon. I'm not sure what flea treatments you have used, so I apologize if I give you ones that you have previously tried. I personally like Revolution and Advantage, so I would use one of them. You can get them from your vet. You can also give Baby Capstar. It's a one time pill that starts killing fleas in 30 minutes and is safe to give with the spot on treatments (Revolution and Advantage). Keep in mind that you need to treat the environment as well, as fleas live in the environment, not on the dog. They only jump on the dog to feed, and then jump off. Wash her bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. You can use a spray to kill fleas in the house, such as Indorex, or a flea bomb would work well to kill the fleas in the home. I hope this helps!
