Hi, My dog tripped and bumped his jaw while going up some steps and hit the bottom of his jaw and there was a bit of blood but he's still nursing it and licking it, I think he will be in a bit of pain tonight or tomorrow is there anything I can give him for the pain? He is a 12lb Shih-tzu

I am so sorry this happened to your Charlie. I would start with a cool compress for the first followed by, for the next 24 hours and a warm compress. This will serve to lessen both the pain and the inflammation in the area. Making your Charlie more comfortable. I wish I could simply suggest a medication that would help Charlie but Unfortunately there are not many over the counter medications which are safely formulated for dogs ; https://www.petcoach.co/article/7-human-medications-that-are-dangerous-for-your-pet/ If you feel that Charlie is in pain I would suggest a trip to the veterinarian for pain relief medication and even antiinflammatories to ensure he heals well. My warmest regards to you both!
